“Some of these people return in March when they try on their old bathing suit and see that it no longer fits,” said Scott Harrington, assistant manager of New Life Fitness World. “Most people get discouraged if the pounds don’t shed off immediately.”
Everyone begins the New Year with good intentions. To avoid losing good intentions and gaining extra pounds, Harrington offers some advice for people before they make a financial, physical and mental commitment to change their present fitness routine.
Assistant Manager Scott Harrington and Manager Brian Boykin can help you stick with your fitness resolution
“Don’t set your expectations too high,” Harrington said. New Life Fitness Center suggests to begin with setting realistic goals. Scott suggests only to commit to a realistic schedule with obtainable goals.
Ideal for one person is not ideal for another. New Life Fitness Center has trainers who will help you meet your individual goals whether they be healing limitations, body sculpting, or fitness maintenance.
“Motivation will also help keep you striving for your goal,” Harrington added. “Whether the motivation be vanity or health, the sense of accomplishment goes a long way for personal self–esteem.”
A new trend in motivation has evolved from the women’s desire to build more strength in their bodies. New Life Fitness Center has doubled their free weight selection because of the women who want to empower their bodies with firmness for anti–aging purposes.
The third suggestion is to find a routine that meets your time schedule and comfort level that you look forward to returning to on a regular basis.
New Life Fitness center offers child care for parents; expert trainers that are eager to help beginners and experienced weight–workers; availability of the latest in athletic equipment without a wait; relaxation in the Jacuzzi; steam and sauna rooms; and immaculate locker rooms.
Yoga, aerobics, Pilates, and many more classes meet the standards of the American College of Sports Medicine. The entire building is designed in a non–intimidating decor, and the staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. “Our retired members keep coming back because of our service,” said Harrington.
The New Life Fitness center located off Hard Scrabble Road has been operating for about two years. There are three other New Life Fitness Centers located in the Columbia area.
