The Clemson Road Food Lion will host its annual Children’s Miracle Network Bowling Tournament, January 25, beginning at 10 am, at Royal Z Lanes, 8512 Two Notch Road in Northeast Columbia. Event proceeds will benefit Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital in Columbia. 699-7422
Dance
A New Year’s Eve Dance will be held at the Capital Senior Center December 31 from 8:30 pm–12:30 am. Ice and mixing beverages are available. Dress is nice party attire. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. Tables of six may be reserved with pre–paid tickets on first come basis. Tickets are available at the senior center or call W.C West at 786-4884.

The Columbia Philatelic Society is sponsoring a Stamp and Postcard Show on January 15–16, 2005 at Spring Valley High School Cafeteria. The show will be Saturdays from 10 am–6 pm and Sunday 10 am–4 pm. There will be 14 dealers at the show. Door prizes will be held each hour beginning at 11 am. There is no admission and free parking. SC Archives and History Center on Parklane Road will hold a beginning genealogy Second Saturday session January 8, at 10 am. Dr. Alexia Halsey, archivist emeritus, will open the session with an overview on genealogical research. A box–lunch break will follow, then participants may begin putting into practice their new knowledge in the search room. Registration for foundation members is $10 and $20 for non–members. You may join the foundation Saturday morning. Foundation annual dues for individuals is $20. Saturday’s registration covers materials and the catered boxed lunch.
