Beta Club members that participated in the competition are Shomari Jones, Maya Jackson, Chelsey Brown, Khadjah Nesbitt, Ka’Shon Bostic, Johnny Boston, Malcolm Johnson, Kyler Faust, Shanquell Scott, and Erin Delk (not pictured). On December 9–10, 2004 Burnside Elementary School Beta Club members attended the 13th Annual SC National Junior Beta Club Academic Convention in Myrtle Beach. Eleven members of the newly chartered club participated in various competitions. Chelsey Brown competed in Division 1 Spelling and placed fourth in the state.
