Gary Fulmer’s first eight Richland Northeast High School basketball teams posted eight consecutive 20–plus win campaigns. This successful coach has been named the new coordinator of athletics for Richland School District Two. He begins the new assignment January 3, 2005.
Fulmer has risen through the ranks from assistant coach at Lower Richland High School to head coach. Five years later he was hired to take the position as head basketball coach at Richland Northeast High School and subsequently the athletics director. In, 2002, his final season his Cavaliers came within six tenths of a second of winning the crown when Spartanburg hit a buzzer–beater and won.
Fulmer held the dual posts before relinquishing the head coaching assignment to assistant Jason Powell three seasons ago.
As the coordinator of athletics for Richland District Two, Fulmer will be meeting with the principals and coaches to develop a district athletic handbook. He will also be available as a consultant for special athletic events.
