The Falcons lost to Chester 32–14. The best defensive numbers were from linebacker Omar Kinlaw (21 total tackles, two quarterback hurries, two kickoff returns for 66 yards) and free safety Marquis Clark (11 tackles, fumble recovery, and pass breakup).
Flora closes its regular season schedule against Eau Claire at W.A. Perry Stadium Thursday.
Dreher (3–6)
Facing the Strom Thurmond Rebels (8–1) the Blue Devils lost 34–14. Freshman quarterback Chris Hickman (eight pass completions) and senior tight end Curtis Sharp (four receptions, 80 yards) accounted for one touchdown. On defense, Matt Williams had eight tackles and broke up five passes.
Thursday, Dreher hosts Chapin (9–1) in the regular season finale at Memorial Stadium.
Lower Richland (1–8)
The Diamond Hornets forced Dutch Fork into overtime before the Silver Foxes prevailed 10–3. LR’s lone score was Jacob Easterby’s 15–yard field goal. Offensive guard Danny Daniels graded 91% with three pancake blocks. Defensively, Daniels logged 10 tackles, one for a loss as LR held Dutch Fork to 80 yards on offense.
Lower Richland travels to Spring Valley.
Cardinal Newman (5–4)
The Cardinals rebounded to keep playoff hopes alive beating Robert E. Lee 39–20. Michael Culbertson (28 carries, 328 yards, two TDs) joined Chris Scott (three TDs) and Paul Miranda in scoring. Crawford Melson (20 tackles, five for loss, a sack, and a fumble recovery) led the Cards defense.
Next, Ben Lippen visits Cardinal Newman in a regular season finale.
Heathwood Hall (9–0)
In a 40–0 win over Ben Lippen, Brandon Gantt’s passing (14–of–22, 200 yards, four TDs; 16 rushes, 105 yards, one TD) kept the winning string intact for the state’s No. 1 SCISA Class AAA team. Gantt ran for another. J.D. Whalen (seven receptions, two TDs) helped pace the offense. Crawford Prezioso and Rhodes Amaker also had TD receptions. David Kirby led defensively (six tackles, three interceptions, one blocked punt).
Heathwood Hall hosts Hammond for Region 2 championship.
Hammond School (9–0)
Hammond topped Augusta Christian 28–7 and are undefeated for the first time since 1992. Leading the scoring was tailback/wide receiver Bruce Greenberg (two rushing TDs, one TD pass reception). Quarterback Frank Martin starred on offense and defense (13–of–19 passing, 225 yards, two TDs, and a fumble recovery). Martin also completed a 50–yard scoring pass to Pete Billas.
On defense, outside linebacker Nick Theodore (two tackles, forced a fumble) and Carter Scott (12 tackles).
