Sleepy Hollow on the River brings spine tingling excitement

Contributed by Geah Pressgrove

The River Alliance, Security Federal Bank, the City of West Columbia and High Voltage Theatre proudly present the second annual production of Sleepy Hollow on the River , beginning September 30.

The story, complete with fearsome apparitions, haunted places, and hapless romantic rivalries will take place in the ideal outdoor venue, the West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheatre, at 8 pm every Thursday through Sunday starting with opening night on September 30, and running through the end of October, with a final grand performance on Halloween night.

This outdoor event has set the platform for a Midland’s Halloween family tradition. This year’s production is complete with enhanced lush period costumes, music, lively 18th century dance, special effects, sword fights, and a live horse to gallop in with the fabled Headless Horseman.

Washington Irving’s tale, which takes place in 1795 in Tarrytown, NY, is a unique, sad, and unusual love story, which at times is dark yet intriguing, and a perfect outing for families to partake of during the Halloween season. Enjoy hot chocolate and cider at every show.

Day of show tickets for Sleepy Hollow on the River are $10 and children under 12 are $5. Advanced tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at 771-6106. Tickets purchased before September 29th are $8 adult and $4 children.
