It’s not a criticism; It’s an observation
We need thick skin
      Last month a British disc jockey got in trouble for playing a listener’s request. Steve Penk, who owns Revolution Radio and doubles as the morning DJ, received a request to play the Van Halen song “Jump” during his show. He complied, even though he knew the circumstances surrounding the request.

Real men play with cacti
      My seven–year–old son came walking up to me at the soccer fields the other day. He had a big grin on his face and a cactus dangling from his two fingers. He was carefully holding it up by the roots, which he called the “safe” part. He called it that because my son had had a previous experience with a cactus on these same fields that was not so safe.

Texting while driving
      It’s late on a Friday night when a city cop on patrol in Southern California sees a car weaving back and forth between two lanes of traffic. The cop flips on the blue lights and taps the siren for a brief blip. The driver, we’ll call him Chester, doesn’t pull over immediately, but eventually decides to pull to the far right lane.

Neighborhoods hold mayoral forum March 23
      John Temple Ligon, business editor and Columbia City Council reporter for The Columbia Star, will moderate a Mayoral Candidate Forum Tuesday, March 23 T Wesley Memorial United Metho-dist Church at 2501 Heyward Street, 7 pm–8:30 pm. The forum is being sponsored by Southside Neighborhoods: Hollywood–Rose Hill, Shandon, University Hill, Wales Garden, and Wheeler Hill.
