Long–time surgeon, USC fan celebrates 93rd birthday
      Friends, family, and representatives of the University of South Carolina gathered at Mayberry’s on Platt Springs Road in West Columbia on Friday, August 27 to celebrate Dr. Charles Crews’s 93rd birthday. USC Football Coach Steve Spurrier, Baseball Coach Ray Tanner, and Basketball Darren Horn were among the coaches from the university honoring Dr. Crews.

Tax free weekend
      I may venture to Walmart this Saturday now that the tax free weekend is over. It’s worse than the day before Christmas. Not charging tax on certain items for a whole weekend, expanding the list of exempted items to include things like guns and wedding dresses, and acting like it gives taxpayers a break is genius.
